Chinese calligraphy was part of the cultural and visual world in which I was raised. To me, a character is never only a unit of language. It is also movement, proportion, breath, temperament, and image.

Calligraphy brings together the two central parts of my creative life: art and writing. The brush gives language a physical presence, while the character gives the gesture memory and meaning. Some works remain close to traditional forms; others move more freely between calligraphy, painting, and contemporary composition. Each piece reflects the balance I continue to seek—between inheritance and individuality, discipline and instinct, strength and grace.
